Dr. Brink,
I want to follow-up on my email from yesterday where I forwarded a copy of my blog post to you RE: Allan Schoenborn’s release.
The announcement yesterday from British Columbia Attorney General Barry Penner that Schoenborn’s supervised release will now be reviewed is a step in the right direction.
Yesterday on CKNW’s Bill Good Show you indicated it was “new information” that the community (Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam) was outraged at Schoenborn’s impending release and that Schoenborn’s ex-wife moved from Merritt to Coquitlam. While I still find it odd that you, the Crown, your Hospital or Victim Services would not have known this information, I hope that with this information you will NOT allow Schoenborn’s release.
Further to this, my hope is you will allow public input into any decision surrounding Schoenborn’s release into our community. This way you will have the most complete, relevant and current community sentiment.
With that in mind, can you tell me when the next hearing on Schoenborn’s release will be held and will public input be accepted?
Finally, to ensure you have more information, below are copies of audio from CKNW (including the one from this morning) demonstrating the concern and outrage from the community; a letter the City of Port Coquitlam wrote in opposition to Schoenborn’s release to the Province and was forwarded to you yesterday; and copies of two Global TV news reports.
