Our New Port Coquitlam Council

Dave watching the results on election night. The results are in and while I am disappointed to not have been elected during my first run at public office (I came in 8th), I am hopeful for the positive future which lies ahead for Port Coquitlam.

We have a new mayor in Greg Moore.  I have worked with Greg in the past and look forward to working with him on community projects.

The other elected City Councillors are Michael Forrest, Michael Wright, Sherry Carroll, Brad West, Glenn Pollack and Darrell Penner.

For School Board John Keryluk was re-elected and new comer Judy Shirra joins him.

I will be calling all of the folks above to offer my congratulations and desire to work together to build a better Port Coquitlam.

I cannot thank my wonderful team of volunteers and supporters enough.  You folks were the heart and soul of my campaign and kept things humming along.  Should we do this again, I would be proud to have each and every one of you on my Team.

Thank-you once again for your support and congratulations to our new Port Coquitlam City Council.

    Hi Dave,

You ran a great campaign and I am very proud of you. Congrats to the new council.

    Love,

Hey Dave, not a bad site and campaign you ran.

For Greg Moore, send him this message:

Is he a politician or a city mayor? Now he has to prove it. He has already made enemies with most of his newly elected candidates and the other side of Poco. so start earning some trust back. By reading some articles and past experience at city hall, I know there has been some pretty dirty campaigning from himself and that’s how he won.

I didn’t elect anyone for mayor because I have given up on this city.

Bowen made a huge blunder in accepting Scott Young’s endorsement. I think he completely underestimated the embarrassment Mr.Young brought to this city and how disgusted most residents were in Mr. Young’s failure to step down from his post.

I read one of today’s local newspapers today and in Bowen’s Ad he again accepted Mr. Young’s endorsement.

That would be the political equivalent of accepting an endorsement from George W Bush. Just Stupid!

Bowen has no one to blame but himself for his loss. The Shell high rise project was the reason I voted against him though. What a joke that development is.

Thanks Dad for your kind words and all your proof reading skills during the campaign. Be sure to spell my name correctly in the inheritance. ;)

STEVE – Greg has served the City for a number of years (both as an elected official and employee), now that he is Mayor I know he will settle into his role and guide this City properly. He is always open to comments, etc. so write to him at greg@gregmoore.ca or visit his website http://www.gregmoore.ca.

DAVID – I agree. Throughout yesterday (election day) CTV, CBC, Global, newspapers, etc. wanted to know my thoughts on the possibility of Scott winning. The press could not believe that he would win. When the results came out with him not getting on Council and my earning more votes than him, I simply said that we now were successful in our recall of Scott Young and hopefully he can now focus on his addictions and getting healthy.

As for the Shell Condo, I see this project as going away. I spoke with the developer during the campaign and they indicate the project needs to be bigger in order to work financially. Moore, Penner, Forrest and West have all said they are against the project – therefore a majority of the new council. Three of the four people who voted in favour of the condo – Young, Bowen and Crowe – are now gone from council. Yes, this issue had an effect, now the new council needs to follow through.

This is an exciting time for our City as we continue to rebuild our reputation. I look forward to the coming years.

Sorry to hear of an 8th place, but considering you are a first run candidate and still garnered a healthy vote, I’d say you did very well. Politics make for some strange bedfellows that is for sure! Continue the fight, you obviously have a groundswell of support and continued accountability with council will allow myour profile and stock to rise!

Congrats on your initial successes and continued for the future!

    Hello Dave,

Better luck next time. Since you have signed Sue’s petition, will you continue to help our community find solutions in regards to the unsafe traffic down in this area as a Poco resident and volunteer at city hall in the near future?

I would like you to email Sue and myself.
    Thank you.
