Terry Fox Hometown Run a Success
Just got back from the the 28th Annual Terry Fox Hometown Run and it was another success. Great weather brought out nearly 6,000 people in support of Terry’s Marathon of Hope.
This is my sixth year organizing the event and I just love it. The participants, over 200 volunteers and the support of many community groups makes the day that much more special.
Not sure how much was raised, but I am guessing in the $100,000 range.
I love this photo at the left with me, the Man in Motion Rick Hansen (who many people do not realize was a personal friend of Terry Fox) and Donna White, Provincial Director for the Terry Fox Foundation. Having Terry’s image in the background truly makes this photo special.
If you are interested in getting involved with next year’s Terry Fox Hometown Run either as a runner or volunteer please let me know – dave@dave.ca. See you on Sunday, September 13, 2009!
