Wear Pink Anti-Bullying Day
Yesterday was Wear Pink Anti-Bullying Day. Many organizations, individual, companies and schools (like North Surrey Secondary picture at the left) got involved by wearing pink and saying NO to bullying.
Over the past month or so, I had the honour of working with Christy Clark and CKNW on making the day a reality. Mostly, I helped with the online presence / strategy / viral marketing / social networking / getting the word out part of the event. By yesterday, over 125,000 people confirmed on Facebook that they would wear pink and say NO to bullying.
Hundreds of emails, Facebook messages, photos and videos have been pouring in and I think it will be a few weeks until we have everything sorted out.
The good news is the event was a success with lots of media and awareness on the issue of bullying. The better news is that a Foundation will soon be set-up so the anti-bullying message continues throughout the year and leading up to the last Wednesday of every February where the Wear Pink event will be held. Stay tuned for more details.
I will be a guest on Christy’s show today on CKNW 980AM starting at 12:35pm to talking about the event and the growth / interest from the online community (click here to listen live via the web).
Thanks to everyone involved in the Wear Pink event and to all of you who got involved.
