Hi Dave – Nice meeting you at the October meeting of the Vancouver Athletic Commission. I had intended to attend the September meetings but there wasn’t a whole lot of notice with regard to posting the meeting dates on the VAC site.
I agree that MMA should be permitted in Vancouver, and I was puzzled and quite frankly disappointed that it was banned after 2006!
I attended a huge MMA event (ballpark 40,000) at Saitama Super Arena in Japan in 2004, put on by the largest MMA organization at the time – Pride Fighting Championship. Amazing! I think events in Canada could one day reach this size. But politicians do have to come around to seeing it as a professional sport.
