Last night Port Coquitlam City Council voted against saving Lobb House.
These folks voted AGAINST saving the heritage building:
Mayor Young      Con. Wright       Con Crowe      Con. Bowen
These folks voted FOR saving the heritage building:
Con. Penner       Con. Moore     Con. Forrest
It is interesting to note that the four Council members who voted against Lobb House voted in favour of building a new 26-story condo tower on the former Shell gas station site which will destroy what little traffic flow we currently have in that area and disrupt use of Lions Park. As I have proposed, a shift in the assigning of the DCCs collected by the City from developers for Park Land Acquisition would have saved Lobb House and given the City a good start on a Heritage Fund.
If Heritage preservation is important to you, on November 15th be sure to make that point clear when you vote.
NEW – October 29th: I have added a poll to the website asking if PoCo Council should have saved Lobb House. The poll will be up for a week.
I sat in complete disbelief during Mondays City of Port Coquitlam council meeting, as the Mayor announced the decision of council not to save the Charles Lobb house . This house built in 1911 was built for one of the City’s first councillor, Charles Lobb. This again shows that council is out of touch what is important to citizens, as well not understanding the richness that heritage brings to a city’s history. Unlike some of our neighbours , the city has decided not to address the need to conserve a sense of our past through a Heritage Conservation Plan . We as a society need to ensure the same priority is given to heritage as given to Arts and Culture and similar resources are available to fund our Libraries . Heritage gives us a visual reference to our past. The Heritage Society has attempted to work with City to look at viable solutions ,but rather has been faced with roadblocks in developing an agreement to save heritage buildings, such as the Lobb building . As well without the city designating heritage sites, the society can not access Provincial funding
I would like to thank councillors Moore, Forrest and Penner who had the vision to support the acquisition of the Lobb building; I would ask that when citizens go to the Poll on November 15th , they consider who can really lead in the future ,if one does not care about the past.. Make your vote count and send a clear message and not support those who have a Lack of Vision.
I may not be supporting Bowen, but after listening to both sides and in favor of not saving the Lobb House should I be voting for Moore?
I support the highrise, but not the connector and who should I be voting for, Issa?
I am a PC, very disappointed with James Moore endorsing this Liberal candidate. Mr. James Moore, what was on your hand out? Maybe I should post it up here. Traitor!!!! You guys were trash talking and some of your campaign supporters have said harsh things about the Liberal party and Greg Moore. Should I repeat it on this site? I was at our campaign celebration night and don’t you ever forget who voted you in. Your true PC supporters. You should be removed, not Scott Young. I am all for removing Scott Young and he is endorsing Mike Bowen and maybe should vote for Bowen now.
This city is going down hill. Give the public some leadership and respect from both sides. Pathetic!!!! Let me see, the four that voted the house down has been paid under the table and must have met and discussed their plan prior to the vote. Time for an entire new council team, like I mean a brand ‘new’ council team. I am in disgraced with all of you current council team.

The Liberals fabricated this??? The Liberals made this all up??? Really now Mr. Moore, really??? Holy revisionist history Batman. Last time I checked, this all came up with the release of the Chuck Cadman biography, where the accusations first came from. Is Mr. Moore trying to imply that somehow the Liberals somehow put author Tom Zytaruk up to this??? Is he implying that Mr. Zytaruk is some kind of Liberal mole, or part of the greater Canada-wide Liberal conspiracy, along with Elections Canada, Linda Keen and the Canadian Wheat Board, out to get the Conservatives??? Last time I checked too, Mr. Zytaruk also had recorded Stephen Harper on tape uttering the following words when asked about the alleged offered million dollar insurance policy:
