Today I am announcing that I am running for Port Coquitlam City Council. Having received support and encouragement from my family, friends and a host of PoCo residents I am happy to put my name on the ballot for November 15th.
I love living in Port Coquitlam. Our small town charm and friendly people are what we are known for and I want PoCo to keep that reputation.
Over the last 11 years I have served our community in a variety of volunteer capacities. Now I want to serve you as your elected official on City Council so I can help improve life for all residents.
My record shows I am up to the task of providing solutions to our growing city. Can I count on your support?
Issues drive a person to run for office. This is why I have attempted to clearly spell out my position on a number of issues. I will not just say “I will represent you”, “I believe in accountable government”, etc. because really, what does that mean? When I vote for someone it is because I agree with their views – not their ability to recite pithy statements with no meaning.
Here are some of the things I will do:
- I will not vote to approve any budget with more than a 5% property tax.
- We need to be able to fire our elected officials through recall legislation.
- I propose donating Scott Young’s banked election fund to the Women’s Centre.
- I will create a Heritage Levy funded by developers.
- Restore the water grant for seniors and create new housing options.
- Port Coquitlam needs at least one more Bylaw Officer and three more Police Officers IMMEDIATELY to ensure we keep our communities safe and our quality of life high.

I hope you will then see I am your best representative on City Council.

Good luck!!
Dave…good luck with the campaign. Its nice to see someone with a firm grasp of issues that a municipality faces. In towns and cities everywhere, financial prudence seems to have gone by the wayside. There is only one taxpayer and they should be treated fairly and with respect.
Kudos for using new technology to communicate with voters. Again, its not something thats done my many and it should be almost a necessity for public servants. And HOW in the world did you get DAVE.ca? Thats amazing!
Port Coquitlam will be better served with Dave Teixeira on city council.
